Tickets will be $5 each. $20 will get you 5 tickets, and if you’re a student you will get 6 tickets woohoo!

Did I mention it is specially engraved? Yeah, this is cool.

Get To Know Twestival 2010!

We have a location - but now we need your help on donations for auction items. We also need donations to help pay for the yummy Shakespeares Pizza we hope to serve during the party. Thanks in advance for your help! We’re really excited about this year’s event!

Hi everyone! It’s time to get ready for another Twestival. This year we’re going to plan it with more time… We actually have more than a month of planning.

So if you remember last year (And if you don’t remember, that’s okay… Join in on the fun!) we have a lot of needs to get started.

In the end, it’s great to have an excuse to bring the social media community together and do good at the same time.

I’m awake early on Thursday morning to gather up “stuff” for our big event tonight. We officially have food, drink, plates, cups, plasticware from a couple of donors. We have a Wii, a monitor, chairs, music, a projector, a projector screen. We have TWO tables and five small tray tables. We have a few auction items - please bring more if you can!!

If you have tables… please, please, please bring one! This event would go better with at least one more! (one for food, one for the silent auction and one for the Wii monitor)

Happy Twestival Day!

Thanks to the many people of Columbia, we’re getting closer to really making tomorrow’s event happen! From donations of Chevy’s chips and salsa to a pan of baked beans… we’ll have an interesting collection of food. (Does anyone want to donate BBQ? That would rock)

There are so many fantastic videos emerging from the Twestival. Like this one about Twestival’s quest to make sure everyone has healthy water to drink.

I highly recommend checking out the videos on Live Earth. I also high recommend enjoying the donated music from Twestival.fm. I’m even planning to buy a super cool t-shirt from Twestival because I’m a t-shirt geek. (Seriously, my husband and I have STACKS of t-shirts that we have emotional connections with and can’t get rid of)

Anyway — We still need your help to make tomorrow happen.

I have two tables. I bought a few tray tables. We have donations of chips, baked beans, snack food. We have donations of cups and plates. But I could use your help. Wanna bring more food and drink? Please do. Do you have a monitor so we can play Wii? That would rock.

That video has this text explaining what charity:water really is all about:

“Right now 1.1 billion people on the planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water. That’s one in six of us. Many communities in developing nations often have a plentiful supply of clean drinking water just below the ground, but no way to get to it. This is where charity: water and their partner organizations come in. Drilling a well can cost from $4,000 - $12,000 USD and many living on less than $1 a day cannot afford one in their community, even if the money is combined.

On 12 February 2009, 100+ international cities will be hosting a Twestival to bring Twitter communities together in an effort to raise money for charity: water. Twestival is organized 100% by international volunteers around the world and 100% of the money raised from these events will go directly to support charity: water projects. By rallying together globally, under short timescales, for a single aim on the same day, the Twestival hopes to bring awareness to this global crisis.

Please support the Twestival efforts for charity: water by making a donation, attending an event or participating in one of our many online fundraising activities.”

I just spent some time making sure there are as many ways to donate for the Twestival as possible.

You can donate to TipJoy as part of Columbia Twestival. Just make sure you click on the drop down menu and choose “Columbia Twestival.”

You can buy a donation ticket from Amiando. This will also be the site where we’ll manage the donations that come from the silent auction.

And you can add a button to your Facebook page or personal webspace by clicking on the pink ball to the right of this website. The group SocialVibe will donate a dollar directly to charity:water.

By the way… EVERYTHING we do to donate money during Twestival will send money directly to the charity:water charity. It’s pretty great.

Since I’ve tapped into an extra group of interested parties… I want to update everyone on the things we have donated so far and the things we still need.

First, a big thanks to @blueroot for donating the venue which has WiFi! The place also has a bunch of chairs for us to use.

@ok2baprincess was able to work with Chevy’s (thanks to her husband) to bring some food to the event. @TopTenWines is offering some help too. But it would be great to have additional food and drink. Bring whatever you’d like to add into the fun.

@justex07 is offering tunes and speakers. Feel free to bring your favorite jams on an iPod and we can add it to the fun. @arclite will bring a Wii but I still need a monitor! @jjsteffe is bringing a projector and @h4×354x0r is bringing a projector screen.

Here’s what is left:

• Tables - I have one foldable poker table, but obviously we’ll need more for food, drink, auction items
• Cups and Plates (and silverware) - If we have food and drink, we might want to put it somewhere.
• Auction items - I’m going to work on a silent auction. I’m hoping the auction can be web-based so the donated money can go straight to the organization. The Twestival organizers are working on a solution for that. @jjsteffe, @TopTenWines @babyfishie have all offered… we can use more!
• Wii and a Monitor - That would be fun. (We have a Wii donation from @arclite)

Also - a quick way to join in and help raise money for charity:water is by clicking on the pink ball I added on the right hand side of the site. SocialVibe is offering $1 to charity:water for every person who places a sponsorship badge on their Facebook page or other websites. Very cool!
